Teaching kids faith at anti-abortion vigil

After reading Ryan Bosco’s March 24 letter admonishing the 40 Days for Life Vigil and pushing his pro-abortion agenda, I felt there needed to be some clarification. First, we don’t need or seek Mr. Bosco’s approval in our decision to bring our family, including children, to the vigil. We are practicing Catholics and, therefore, are pro-life. One can’t be a Catholic or a Christian and be pro-abortion. Neither can a person stand idly by as a spectator of the single greatest crime in American history. My question to Mr. Bosco is: “What’s so bad about abortion that...

Trying to comprehend the abortion tallies

My mind was full of numbers leaving the 40 Days for Life prayer vigil in front of Planned Parenthood. How many babies have been saved during the campaign? What are the numbers? How many abortions took place inside Planned Parenthood during those very hours we prayed? What were the numbers? I know that nationwide, Planned Parenthood’s own numbers boast 329,445 abortions were performed in 2010, and I had a hard time wrapping my mind around that number. I left Glenwood Springs, population 9,614, I drove through Carbondale, population 6,427, Basalt, population 3,857, Snowmass Village,...

Abortion is as Abhorrent as Slavery

Ryan Bosco’s thoughtful, earnest and civil critique of the 40 Days For Life presence at West Glenwood’s Planned Parenthood facility published on March 24 merits a reasoned response. In his acknowledgment of the complex web of psychological, sociological and economic factors weighing upon a distressed individual’s decision regarding abortion, Mr. Bosco appears not to consider a universal moral dimension that lies beyond the province of the social sciences just mentioned. As explained by John Locke in his “Essay on Human Understanding,” thanks to what he called Natural...

Abortion Protest Worth Every Taunt

The 40 Days for Life project has been a huge success. Betty Scranton has been a blessing and an inspiration to all of us. She has held her head up high every day, through all kinds of weather. It has been my privilege to stand with her for the cause of life. If you look real close and when the sun is just right, you can see the hands of God resting on her shoulders. It’s ironic that those who are pro-abortion respect their own lives, but not those of the unborn. Has it all been worth it? The drive-bys who give us the thumbs down gesture, the foul gutter-mouth name-calling, the evil...

Millions of Lives Lost To Abortion

Are readers aware that there have been well over 50 million scientists, farmers, doctors, inventors, artists, business owners, maybe even someone who would have discovered the cure for cancer or other major diseases, leaders of our country in every area of life who have not been allowed to live, but they were killed before they had the chance to experience life, liberty and their own pursuit of happiness? Many people, especially our young people today, do not even know who Adolph Hitler was or what he did. But under his leadership, 11 million homosexuals, handicapped and Jews were starved to...

Hello, This is Saturday and I have just returned from the Larimer County Caucus. There were many good resolutions there including Personhood and the petitions were going around for that as well. It apparently has been a wild day at PP. The atheist club turned out with a bbq grill and have sodas to give out and also are giving out condoms! But the pro-life side has remained strong and many are stopping to pray with those on the sidewalk, They started this morning and are still at it now at 2:30. Anyway, the confirmation class from Holy Family comes every Saturday at 8am to pray. This...
